with-news-500-width.jpg

This week has been filled with many varied and interesting cultural issues. These are just some of the articles and posts I have read this past week. Have a wonderful Friday!

- Many Americans are recognizing the need to develop their inner life. In an interesting article by G. Jeffrey MacDonald at USA Today.com entitled, “More Americans’ spiritual growth nurtured within” MacDonald highlights the new trends in developing an inner life, even if you don’t attend weekly ‘religious’ services.  (Note: Be sure to follow the other links in the article for more interesting reading)

- World Magazine reports terrorist attacks on historical Christian landmarks in the Middle East.

- To win in ‘08, Republicans need to be more like Sam Adams.

- Dr. Albert Mohler has a wonderful article answering, Does Marriage Matter?

- The Los Angeles Times reports a decline in abortions.

- The London Times reports animal-human embryo research has been approved.

- Kenya, Africa has been turned into “killing fields of the innocent”.

- Mort Kondracke of Roll Call Magazine writes an interesting article, “Will Democrats Ever Acknowledge Progress in Iraq?”

- Danny MacDonald on Musings of a Wannabe Muser has an interesting post entitled, “Huckabee on The Constitution and “God’s Standards”: Don’t Be Quick to Judge”

- Logan Mauldin has a post highlighting the 2008 Movie Calendar.

- Rick Clark at Christ and Pop Culture links us to an interesting video, Huckabee: Amend Constitution to Reflect God’s Standards

The Golden Compass – Mohler Weighs In

the_golden_compass.jpgDr. Albert Mohler, President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky has written an excellent article on the new movie The Golden Compass entitled The Golden Compass — A Briefing for Concerned Christians.  Dr. Mohler helps us, as Christians, think rightly about how to approach this movie.  Please read this timely article.

Quote of the Week

"It is a mercy that our lives are not left for us to plain, but that our Father chooses for us; else might we sometimes turn away from our blest blessings, and put from us the choicest and loveliest gifts of his providence." - Susannah Spurgeon
